Monica Edlauer

Monica is the founder and lead practitioner at Boulder Family Acupuncture.  She has been living, studying, working and raising her family in Boulder, CO since 1996. She graduated from Naropa University in 2000 with a BA in Early Childhood Education and Contemplative Psychology (Health/Healing specialty), along with a minor in Traditional Eastern Arts. Through Naropa, she developed a foundation in the Japanese healing art of Jin Shin along with Five-Element theory and Plant Spirit Medicine. 

 

After attaining certification as an advanced practitioner of Jin Shin Tara, Monica attended Southwest Acupuncture College, earning her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree in August 2007. This four-year program consisted of 3000 hours of education, including over 1000 hours of clinical practice.  

In 2019, Monica went back to school and obtained her BSN with honors from Regis University and is now dually employed as a Registered Nurse in Boulder County, where she gets to further engage in her passion for patient care.


Monica is certified as a Diplomate of Acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). This includes certification in Clean Needle Technique and Injection Therapy. Monica’s training includes herbal medicine, moxabustion, electro stimulation, tui na, shiatsu, auriculotherapy, cupping, injection therapy, and Frequency Specific Microcurrent.  

Francine Choren

LAc , PhD

Francine is an Acupuncturist and Herbalist licensed by the State of Colorado and board certified in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She completed her Doctorate Degree at Pacific College of Health and Science, where she studied with some of the country’s leading professors and practitioners. She has more than 7 years of experience in acupuncture and herbology, practical clinical experience and adjunct therapies including Tui Na massage, cupping, gua sha, moxibustion, electric stimulation and auriculotherapy. Francine combines Traditional Eastern healing methods with a deep understanding of Western medicine, as well as the powerful influences of our daily environment on health to create a personalized treatment plan for her patients.

Francine is originally from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and is a second generation acupuncturist. Her father, also an acupuncturist, and mother, a healthcare professional, have shared over a decade of medical experience with her. She earned her BS in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon. 


As a McNair’s Scholar, she also practiced under the mentorship of renowned experts in the field of Motor Control, Marjorie Woollacott PhD and Sandy Saavedra PT, PhD where she was able to publish her groundbreaking research on human development control through pioneering neurological assessment techniques.
